Seeing Hillary Clinton At Her Commerce City Rally August 3rd, 2016

Never Politics Small

Hillary Clinton was in town having a rally in Commerce City, Colorado at Adams City High School August 3rd. NEVER POLITICS was there to cover the story! We arrived in Commerce City at the high school at 12:15pm. Doors opened at 1pm and the rally started at 3pm. By the time we arrived at the school, the line was huge, winding all the way around the school. It was a sweltering Colorado summer day. The temperature was 93 degrees and very sunny, and people sweated as they waited in line. My husband and I were somewhere in the middle of the line as we waited to get inside. We waited in the heat for two and a half hours before we got to the front of the line, went through security, and went inside.

We were among some of the last people to make it inside before the gymnasium was full and no more people were admitted. We heard that the gym held about 2,000 people. It was a full house inside, people of all walks of life, all ages and races, from tiny children to the elderly. The energy in the rally was palpable. We were inside for about 20 minutes before the rally started.

Governor John Hickenlooper entered the rally alongside Hillary Clinton. He gave a wonderful speech introducing her. Then Hillary Clinton took the stage and gave a rousing stump speech. The focus of her speech was her jobs program. She spoke eloquently about keeping jobs inside the the United States, including manufacturing jobs. She spoke about getting Americans the training to get jobs and learn trade skills. She described her visit that day to the Knotty Tie Factory, a Denver tie and scarf manufacturer. She talked about how Trump’s products are made everywhere but America but highlighted how this Colorado company, Knotty Tie Co, kept jobs in America. She further went on the attack against Donald Trump, calling him unfit and unqualified for the job of President.

She talked about getting more broadband internet to Americans in rural areas to make America more competitive and connected. She also spoke about taking on the Gun Lobby which brought a huge cheer from the crowd. At one point the crowd interrupted Hillary with chants of “HILLARY! HILLARY!” The crowd was fired up and ready to go! Hillary ended her speech by saying, “Colorado, lets win in November!” She encouraged the crowd to get involved with her campaign and volunteer and get out the vote. She said because “‘You’re hired,’ is better than “You’re Fired.” A clear dig at Donald Trump. Hillary had her stump speech down. I did not see any teleprompter for her to read off of. She seemed confident, poised, and very presidential. I have to say, I think she will win in November. Keep reading NEVER POLITICS for all your Colorado political updates between now and Election Day!
